Jomsom-Muktinath trekking is the major trekking destinations in the Annapurna foothill. The place is also a pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists as it is considered religiously significant and revered by both faiths. The trek to Jomsom -Muktinath follows the path of world famous Annapurna Circuit trek and can be completed by anybody with a moderate level of fitness. Once you reach Jomsom, you can either hike up to Muktinath temple or choose to explore the villages around Jomsom such as Kagbeni, Marpha, Thini and Lupra..
The main features of this trek is the walk past Kali Gandaki gorge which is the deepest gorge in the world carved by the Kali Gandaki River and located between the 10th heighest Mt. Annapurna 8091m and seventh heighest Mt. Dhaulagiri 8164m. The terrains are different and encompass everything from subtropical jungle to high and dry landscape resembling the Tibetan plateau.
Trekking to Muktinath allows you to reach the high mountains of the Himalayas within a short time frame and without ascending to extreme altitude. There is a lot to explore in this region- from hundreds of years old monastery, caves and local culture to the different landscapes with mirco climate. 10 days Jomsom -Muktinath trek can be customize in 4 days by taking both way flight.
The initial days of the trek through the kali Gandaki valley ascends through rice terraces and villages inhabited by the indigenous people; mostly the Magar and Thakali tribes. Trek to Jomsom gets interesting
in Tatopani where you will get to relax in natural hot springs. The trek then passes through Marpha, Jomsom and Kagbeni which is the entry point to Upper Mustang. The grandeur of the Dhaulagiri glacier is on full display here as you move a little further along the way to Muktinath.
The main attraction of Jomsom-Muktinath treks is the Muktinath temple, 108 water sprouts, Buddhist shrine and rain shadow plain. Beautiful mountain scenery, pristine forests, diversity of flora and fauna and warm and simple minded people are the attaction of Jomsom easy and short trek.

Day 01Kathmandu-Pokhara by bus 7hrs. by Air 30 min.The Bus leave early morning from Global Adventure Trekking. It is a Tourist bus and goes through the scenic valley. Over night at Hotel. B.L.D.
Day 02Pokhara-Nayapul 1hrs. 1100m.-Hille 3hrs. 1475m.-Tikhedhunga 1hrs. 1520m. In the Morning the trek begins after the short drive to Nayapul. Trails goes through the deciduous forest and over look water falls,mountain and rice field. Over night at guest house. B.L.D.
Day 03Tikhedhunga-Ulleri 1.5hrs. 2075m.-Banthanti 1hrs.-Ghorepani 3hrs.2780m. You are going all the way up hill to Ghorepani but apart from the first part till to Ulleri then gradually up through the rhododendron and pine forest. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 04Ghorepani-Deurali 2hrs.3000m-Shikha 1hrs.-Tatopani 5hrs.1200. Early morning GAT guide takes you to Poon hill 3155m. for Sun Rise and back to lodge and trek begins through the rhododendron forest,offers you the great views of Dhauligiri range,Annapurna range and Lamjung Himal range. All the day the path descent into the valley facing village, dense forest and river to Kaligandaki. Short walk to Tatopani. Here is natural Hot spring where you can take natural hot bathe. Day 05Tatopani-Dana 1450m.2.5hrs.-Ghasa 2.5hrs.2000m. Your trek goes into the valley passing small Magar village, Water falls, some mountain views. Mostly you are following Donkey/mule and horse, as a porter to carry the loads to the village and lodge. You requested to leave the side off to them because they are naughty. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 06Ghasa-Kalopani 3hrs. 2530m.-Marpha 4hrs. 2620m. You going gradually up and gaining the elevation, above the vegetation. All different views of landscape,mountain,people and more windy valley through south to North all after the noon. Marpha is nice village of Thakali Tribes and old Monastery. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 07 Marpha-Jomsom 3hrs. 2700m.-Kagbeni 2hrs.-2800m. These days are more easier comperately. Walking through the Kaligandaki river offers you some fossils and Saligrames. Pass Jomsom where the regular flights operates to Pokhara in the morning. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 08Kagbeni-Jharkot 2.5hrs. 3500m.-Muktinath 2.5hrs. 3710m. Explore the Kagbeni in the morning and ascent to Jharkot for lunch and keep continuous to Muktinath. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 09Muktinath-Ekle Bhatti-Jomsom 5hrs. Morning visit the Monastery,Water spouts,Temple and many other chorten. Descend to Jomsom via Ekle Bhatti. Over night at Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 10 Jomsom-Pokhara by Air 25 Minutes. Through the massive two mountain annapurna and Dhauligiri. Just 30 min. flight to pokhara transfer to Hotel. Over night at Hotel/Guest house. B.L.D.
Day 11 Pokhara to kathmandu Early morning flight or drive to Kathmandu.
Does your trekking crew have insurance?
Yes, all of our trekking staffs are well insured and well equipped.
-What happens if I get sick in the mountain?
Gat has well experienced staffs and very familiar to local people too. If You are sick, Our staffs will see and handle all kind of needs. Normally if worsen we will descent about 300 to 500 meter and see. If you are still worse then we organizes emergency evacuation by helicopter.
Do I need any vaccination before to leave?
In general you do not need any vaccination but better to consult your Doctors before to come.
-Do I get drinking water?
GAT supply purified drinking water but not bottle water because of the environmental awareness.
-Is the electricity available in the trekking?
Even though Nepal is second richest for the water resources but most of the places do not have electricity. At a same time depend where you are trekking.
- Is there ATM in the mountain?
No, there is no ATM and Bank in the mountain. So you are suggested to have cash for your trekking.
-What is the political condition in Nepal?
Nepal is federal democratic republic country since 2009. Until 2007 Nepal was in unrest political situation and was not safe to travel in Nepal. After the peace agreement between Maoist and Government is it hundred percent secure to go.
-What kind of document should I bring?
Normally a veiled pass port and insurance document is required to bring with you.
