Upper Mustang trekking is perfect for those who like to go on exploring unexplored places. The valleys around Mustang are dry and contain many cave dwellings, situated high up in the cliffs. The best season to go on this trek is from February to May and October to November. It is an eighteen days trek. And the most efficient way to reach Upper Mustang is to fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and start the trek from there. You will stop at Kagbeni, an old village which is the entry point of Upper Mustang. It takes about five days to reach Lo Manthang from Kagbeni. The trail to Lo Manthang follows the banks of Kaligandaki River upstream. Pass after pass will be crossed in the journey to this forbidden kingdom. Lo Gekar Monastery, said to have been built by the famous Guru Rinpoche, in the 8th century is located close to Dhakmar. The red color of the wall is said to have been painted with the blood of a demon that Guru Rinpoche slaughtered at the location of the monastery.
Upper Mustang trekswill lead you to a place that is as remote as places to go. Once, there, you will undoubtedly find yourself in awe of the isolation that the place is known for.

Day 01Kathmandu- Pokhara. 820m.Morning the bus leaves from Kathmandu to Pokhara 200 km drive and takes 7 hrs. Over night at Hotel.
Day 02Pokhara –Jomsom 25min. 2720m-Kagbeni 2.5hrs.2790m. Morning fly to Lonsom and the trek begins to Kagbeni through Kaligandaki rive. Walking in the barren land and mostly facing the strong wind. Over night at Guest Hoiuse.
Day 03Kagbeni –Chele 6hrs. 3050m. Restricted area started. Before to inter into the restricted area of mustang, finish the protocol at check post and keep walking through gravel of riverbed. Climb mostly gradually up passing stone Chorten to arrive Tangbe. Here we can have a tea or even lunch and keep walking in the dry land to Chele. Over night at Guest House.
Day 04Chele-Geling 8hrs. 3570m. Another beautiful days are welcoming you to go! You are walking steep,high altitude desert . You will see many colorful chorten and barley field. Mostly mixed culture of himdus,Tibetan Bompas and Boudhism. Over night at Guest House.
Day 05Geling –Tsarang 6 hrs. 3560m. The trail goes up through the barley field to Ghami. This is the most inhabited village in Lo. Ghami is surrounded by the extensive fields and half of the lands are barren because of the irrigation problems. The path to Tserang descends below the red and grey cliffs across the valley to small river. Visit perhaps most spectacular and the longest mani wall in Nepal. Keep ascends to the top and descend to Tsarang. Over night at Guest house.
Day 06Tsarang –Lo Manthang 5hrs.3810m. After half an hours you are going in Tholung valley. We are taking you gradually up to the Lo border. The city wall, 750m long, 9m high and have 14 tower makes your trip more interesting. Then you are already in Lo manthang. Over night at Guest House.
Day 07Lo manthang Exploration day Exploration day, visiting the palace, Monestery,Temple, chorten, Helth post, vegetable garden, experience the local culture and many more. Over night at Guest house.
Day 08 Lo manthang to Choser village day trip. This area is the place of monastery and temple which is close by Tibet. If it is bit long to walk you can hire a horse to go and back. Global Adventure trekking Guide is very friendly and helpful to you in any circumstance.
Day 09Lomanthang to Drakmar 7hrs. 3800m. As your final destination is reached so we are processing to trek back. Most of the interesting place are already visited on the way up. So you are going down quickly. Over night at Guest House.
Day 10Drakmar-Shyangmochen 6hrs.3920m. Until Ghami you are trekking the same route but here we change the path to upward to beautiful village Shyangbochen. Visit the apple farm, orchid, Chorten, Temple and Monastery. Over night at Guest house.
Day 11Syangbochen-Chhuksang 7hrs. This day we are descend about 1100m. Through the valley to Kaligandaki and keep walking until we arrive Kagbeni. Over night at guest House.
Day 12Chhuksang-Kagbeni 5hrs. Trek up and down to Kagbeni for your check out from the restricted area of Upper Mustang.
Day 13 Kagbeni-Jomsom 3hrs. Walking back to the same way back to Jomsom. Kaligandaki is famous for fossil and Saligram along the way.
Day 14Morning fly to Pokhara and transfer to Hotel and relax day in pokhara. We will have a morning flight to pokhara and rest of the time you can do your own things in the city.

How fit do I have for this trek?
Trekking means walking in the remote area where modern facility are not available and walking more uphill and downhill. So, if you are physically fit and health condition is fine, you can do this trek easily.
Can I use credit cards in during this trekking?
Credit card facilities are not available in the mountain. So you must have Nepalese Rupees in cash. However in major city like in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar have credit card facilities are available.
What currency do the tea houses take?
Only Nepalese currency is accepted.
Where should I get my money exchanged?
To change Money, In major city there are several Bank and money exchanger, where you can change easily.
What payment do they take for a Nepal Visa?
Nepal Immigration accepts only in US Dollars for visa and please brings 2 pass port photographs.
What are the basic amenities at a tea house?
In few places you will get private attached bath room with running water, However most of the places you need to share the bath room. You always get comfortable private room.

What kind of weather we expect during this trekking?
The weather is very unpredictable in the mountain, however below 1000m is quite warm and coldest season it falls about 8/20 degree.
Below 2000m- Minimum 1 degree and maximum 15 degree. (1/15)
Below 3000m- Minimum -1 degree and maximum 13 degree.
Below 4000m- minimum -2 degree and maximum 12 degree
Below 5000m- minimum -4 degree and maximum 5 degree
Above 5000m is extremely cold.
How does getting food work at the tea houses?
All different verities (continental and Nepalese) of hygienic food is served during the trek.
What is the preferred type of luggage?
A backpack in its simplest form, a cloth sack carried on one's back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders.
Can I get my clothes washed?
No there is no laundry services are available in the mountain.
Do I need to get Diamox (altitude sickness medicine) before I arrive?
Yes you better to bring some high altitude medicine with you.
