Everest Base Camp Cho La Pass Trekking Itinerary
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu 1,400 m./4,595 ft./30 min. Drive
Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, our dedicated airport representative will greet you and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the time is free for your exploration of Thamel.
Day 02: Kathmandu-Lukla air distance 138 km./85 miles/30 min flight 2,780 m./9,120 ft. Trek to Phakding 2,620 m./8 km./4 hrs.
You will enjoy the most exciting iconic flight over the mountains in the morning, which takes half an hour to Lukla and begins the trek through the Tamang and Sherpa villages. Lukla is mostly inhabited by Sherpa tribes. The trail goes gradually flat to Phakding. It will take you around 3 hours to reach Phakding. Enjoy your overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Phakding-Namche Bazaar 3,440 m./11,285 ft./10 km./6 hrs.
You are approaching the Himalaya closely. Viewing all the mountains and pine forests and following the yak take you to Namche Bazar. On the way, you will have your first encounter of Mt. Everest, Amadablem, Themserku and many more.
Day 04: Rest day in Namche for acclimatization 3,780 m./12.400 ft./4 hrs.
Today is acclimatization day, and you have an optional hike to (Everest View hotel in Syangboche) or Khumjung village. It takes around 4 hours . to explore the hike. You can have the best views of the mountains, including Mt. Everest, the Everest View Hotel, Hillary School, and its surroundings.
Day 05: Namche trek to Tengboche 3,680 m./12,075 ft./9 km./5 hrs.
The trek begins very easily in the first part, then the trail goes downhill to Phunki Tanga on the river side. From here, Buddhism was introduced into the Khumbu valley. Then ascend about 800 m to Tengboche through the pine forest.
Day 06: Tengboche trek to Dingboche 4,400 m./14,435 ft./11 km./5 hrs.
Tengboche is the best place to view Mount Everest, Amadablam, and Thanserku in the back. Tengboche Monastery is another attraction for tourists, so GAT staff take you there in the morning to participate in Puja and descend through the Rhododendron Forest.
Day 07: Acclimatize day- Chhukung valley or Nangkartshang Peak 5,050 m/ 16,677 ft.
Today is an acclimatization day. Your guide will lead you to go up Nangkartshang Hill, from where you can see the view of 180-degree mountain ranges, including Makalu (8,481 m) and Chhukung Valley. Gaining altitude-650m.
Day 08: Dingboche Trek to Lobuche 4,900 m./16,072 ft./7 km./4 hrs.
As we are walking in a high-altitude area, we are trekking like slogs. When we cross the small river in Dhukla, the path goes steeply up to Lobuche. You visit Chorten, Mane Stone, the glacial moraine, and all the panoramic views of the eight thousand-meter mountain.
Day 09: Lobuche-Gorakshep 5,110 m./16,760 ft./7 km./3 hrs.
You are on the lap of the Himalayan range. Gorakshep is the initial base camp for Everest. Until the 1950s, climbers set up camp at this place. Optional hike up to Everest base camp after lunch and back to the lodge.
Day 10: Gorakshep trek to Kala patthar 2 hrs. 5,545 m./18,145 ft. and trek to Dzongla 13 km./4 hrs.
This is the most memorable day of your trek in your lifetime due to the sunrise from Kala Patthar on Everest and its neighbors. Experience the Khumbu Ice Falls and listen to the noise from the silence. Trek back to the lodge and down to Dzongla 4830 m.
Day 11: Dzongla trek to Cho La Pass 5,416 m./17,765 ft.Dragnag.9 km./ 7 hrs.
After early breakfast, we begin your trek through the ice-cold path to the top of the Chola Top (5,416 m). Surrounded by all the Himalayas, see the glacier, and make a long descent to Dragnak.
Day 12: Dragnag trek to Gokyo Lake 4,700 m./15,416 ft./8 km./4 hrs.
Trek down to the hill, cross the Ngozumba Glacier, and meet the classical trail to Gokyo lake Keep walking for about an hour and reach Gokyo lake.
Day 13: Climb Gokyo Ri 5,357 m./17,575 ft. and trek to Machhermo 4,470 m./13 km./ 5 hrs.
This is an exploration day for your Goryo-Ri 5410m for the great view of the Himalaya from Makalu to Cho-Oyu (east to north range). It is steep uphill to go to Gokyo-Ri but pricy to reach the top. Back to the lodge and trek to Machhermo for 3 hours.
Day 14: Machhermo trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m./11,285 ft./10 km./4 hrs.
Today you are walking down through the pine and rhododendron forest, and you may encounter several Musk deer, mountain goats, wild boars, and pheasants. On another side of your trek, see the great views of Ama Dablam and Themserku Mountain. Passing Dole, Maha Danda, and Khumjung and reaching.
Day 16: Namche trek to Lukla 2,860 m./9,380 ft./19 km./7 hrs.
Trek through the Sherpa village beside the Dudh Koshi and visit the monastery and Mani wall before arriving in Lukla for your final trek.
Day 17: Flight back to Kathmandu Air distance 138 km./85 miles/30 min. Flight journey
Most of the flight leaves from Kathmandu-Lulkla-Kathmandu in the morning, which is just half an hour. Arrivals and transfer to the hotel. Evening farewell dinner.
Day 18: Final Departure
After having a healthy breakfast, we transfer you to KTM International Airport for your onward flight.
