Nar-Phu Valley Trekking

Nar Phu Valley trek begins at Koto/Chame and ends at Hunde of Annapurna Conservation Area. The people of Nar Phu depend on livestock (yak herding) for survival and lead a very basic life. Surrounded by the Peru Himalaya to the north, Gangla and Gangru to the east, and the Damodar Himalaya to the east, and Mustang to the west, Nar Phu valley is the remotest part of the Manang region. The place is rarely visited by trekkers, and the place remains in its undisturbed form. The name Nar Phu is a combination of names of two villages Nar and Phu that are situated in the valley. Both the villages offer a glimpse into the medieval Tibetan culture which continues to survive untouched by modernism in this isolated valley. Most of the houses are two storied with little or no decoration. During the winter season, from mid-December to January, the place is covered by snow and more than half of the population move to Lamjung to sustain the weather. In Phu village, there is the renowned Tashi Lha Khang monastery which many Buddhists visit. Besides spending time at the villages, you can also explore the high alpine valleys. Challenging high passes Kangla (5200m), make this trek even more adventurous. Collecting Yarsagumba-Cordyceps (summer plant-winter insects) which is high in demand nowadays and people are generating their income source.

Narphu Valley trekking is indeed a non-touristy trek and follows an off the beaten path to Nar Phu valley in the north of Mamang. The Nar Phu Valley trek offers fantastic views of the Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu Himal, HImlung, Kangkaru Peak and Tilicho Peak. For all this reasons and more, be our companions as we set on this wonderful journey.
