Tsum Valley Trekking

Tsum Valley trekking located in the northern part of Gorkha district, Tsum Valley derives its name from the Tibetan word Tsombo meaning vibrant. Historically, the valley was said to be a part of Tsum Tso Chucksums which translates to united thirteen provinces. The Tsum valley today represents its history and association with Tibet beautifully with artistic monasteries, stupas and mani walls decorating the entire valley. Tsum Valley is also famous for being the place where Milarepa, an important figure in Buddhism was said to have meditated in several of the caves.

Tsum valley trekking is one of the newly opened trekking destination in Nepal. Tsum Valley is surrounded by Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south and Sringi Himal to the North. Global Adventure Trekking arranges trips to this valley all year round. The trek begins with a day long drive to Arughat from Kathmandu. Gorkha is the home of warrier and connected through Gorkha Bazaar, Trishuli Bazaar and Dhading Besi. The trail then heads up toward north the valley of the Buddhi Gandaki river towards Philim through wild and unexplored country inhabited mainly by the members of the Gurung ethnicity. On your way to Philim, you will see many waterfalls and have birds for your companion as you walk into the forest. Lokpa is the first village you pass after reaching the valley of Tsum. Dhoban, Lamagaun, Burji, Chule, Nile, Dhumje are other villages that you will come across on your trek to Tsum Valley. Mu Gompa, the largest monastery in the area and Gumba Lungdang, the oldest nunnery in the valley are two attractions of this trek. While Mu Gompa is located at the highest point in the Valley, the nunnery is a combination of sixteen houses, the main building of which houses murals of many Buddhist deities and life size statue of Guru Padmasambhav, Yara and Buddha. Another attraction, Kyimo Lung is a famous pilgrimage circuit in the central Trans- Himalaya, well known seat of learning and meditation. The circuit traverses across Tsum Valley and southern parts of Tibet.

People living in the Tsum Valley are mostly of Tibetan origin and have their own dialect. Deeply religious, the locals are mostly followers of Guru Padmasambhava. They are also hospitable and greet visitors with traditional Tibetan tea which is made of butter and salt tastes completely different to regular Chiya. Polyandry is still practiced among the locals who celebrate festivals like Losar (New Year), Saka Dawa (month to abstain from sins), Dhachyang and many others. Tsum Valley has been able to maintain its unique culture and this is one of the main reasons why a visit to Tsum Valley is a must; to experience a back-in-the time feeling. So, come aboard this journey with Global Adventure Trekking who puts in hundred percent dedication to make every trip a memorable one.
