Langtang Valley trekking is a remote place located to the north of Kathmandu, and lies in close proximity to Tibet. The official border between Langtang and Tibet goes along high mountain peaks.This trek is in the Langtang National park and fully wilderness trek. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains on all sides, Langtang valley is a trekkers paradise offering the most beautiful of views. Langtang Valley trek starts from Lower Langtang valley and takes you through dense forests. Another interesting aspect of langtang trek is the chance to see wildlife up-close. The stretch of forest around Ghoda Tabhela in the lower Langtang Valley and below Gosain Kunda is inhabited by red panda, an exotic raccoon-like mammal nearing extinction. Other animals that you may encounter on the way include Himalayan black bear, ghoral, grey langur monkey and leopard. Further up the valley, wild animals like Himalayan ghar, musk deer and snow leopard can also be found.

Besides wildlife, Langtang valley is also rich in forestation. The deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola are thickly forested with rhododendron, oak, maple and alder. Larch, a rare deciduous conifer is also found in the forest of the lower Langtang valley. There are several possible routes to choose from for Langtang valley trekking. One is from Dhunche, the main trading post of the area, which takes only a days drive from Kathmandu. Another option is to drive to Syabru Besi which is also a days ride from the capital. Once you have reached the starting point, it takes approximately four days to reach the upper part of Lantang. Once above the Langtang village, visitors can explore the high valley of Lang shisha, Yala Peak and Tsero Ri. These and the other villages of Lantang are inhabited by Tibetan descendants whereas the villages of Dhunche, Syabru and Bharku are inhabited by Tamang people.

From Langtang village, theres a trail that leads to Kyangjin, which is a summer settlement. A small monastery and a cheese factory operate here. A visit to the cheese factory can prove to be an amazing experience and also the small lakes that lie behind the factory provides a delicious view. Day 02 : Syabru Bensi-Land slide 2hrs.-Bamboo 1hrs.-Lama Hotel 2hrs. 2400m.

Day 03 : Lama Hotel-Ghoda Tabela 1.5hrs 3048m.-Lang Tang Village 4hrs. 3300m.

Day 04 : Lang tang-Singdum 1.5hrs.-Kyanging Gumba 1.5hrs. 3790m.

Day 05 : Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa and day hike Tsekuri Ri and back to Kyanjin Gompa

Day 06 : Kyanging Gumba-Lama Hotel 6hrs.

Day 07 : Lama Hotel-Syabru Bensi 5hrs. We are trekking back through the same way.

Day 08 : Syabru Bensi-Kathamndu 8hrs. by public bus/Jeep/car.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Kathmandu 1300m-Dhunche 1900m-Syabru Bensi 1700m,Early morning the bus leave from the side of Kathmandu takes about 8 hrs drive to Syabru Bensi. Bus goes through the National Park with out horn and the road is not too bad. Over night at Guest House.B/L/D

Day 02Syabru Bensi-Land slide 2hrs.-Bamboo 1hrs.-Lama Hotel 2hrs. 2400m. Syabru Bensi is the inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa people. Syabru Bensi is also the get way to Tibet Kerung which takes about 4hrs walking. Your trek follows the Langtang Khola and walking gradually up hill through the Rhododendron forest to Banboo. This trails is famous for Red Panda and Langur.Over night at Guest House.

Day 03Lama Hotel-Ghoda Tabela 1.5hrs 3048m.-Lang Tang Village 4hrs. 3300m. Trails goes gradually up through the rain forest and facing to the wide valley which is not comperable with any part of the trek you ever done. Slowly you are going to trek above the tree lines. Lang tang Lirung is smailing at you and at the same time feel the Micro climate over there. Over night at Guest House.

Day 04 Lang tang-Singdum 1.5hrs.-Kyanging Gumba 1.5hrs. 3790m. Very short day to hike but remarkable. Monastery,Mane,chorten,Prayer flage,Yak,Cheese factory and mountain range makes your trek more unforgettable. Over night at Guest House.

Day 05Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa and day hike Tsekuri Ri and back to Kyanjin Gompa Explore The Kyanging Gumba and Kyangin Ri and visit the surrounding and over night at guest house.

Day 06Kyanging Gumba-Lama Hotel 6hrs. Trek back to Lama hotel is also pleasant walking as you are facing to the southern area and looking at the missing views which you may left on the way up. Ovetr night at Guest.

Day 07 Lama Hotel-Syabru Bensi 5hrs. We are trekking back through the same way.Mostly descending to Syabru Hotel and over night at guest house.

Day 08Syabru Bensi-Kathamndu 8hrs. by public bus/Jeep/car. Bus drive to Kathmandu.

How fit do I have for this trek?
Trekking means walking in the remote area where modern facility are not available and walking more uphill and downhill. So, if you are physically fit and health condition is fine, you can do this trek easily.

Can I use credit cards in during this trekking?
Credit card facilities are not available in the mountain. So you must have Nepalese Rupees in cash. However in major city like in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar have credit card facilities are available.

What currency do the tea houses take?
Only Nepalese currency is accepted.

Where should I get my money exchanged?
To change Money, In major city there are several Bank and money exchanger, where you can change easily.

What payment do they take for a Nepal Visa?
Nepal Immigration accepts only in US Dollars for visa and please brings 2 pass port photographs.

What are the basic amenities at a tea house?
In few places you will get private attached bath room with running water, However most of the places you need to share the bath room. You always get comfortable private room.

Do tea houses have electricity so I can charge my electronic devices?
Yes, Most of the places have electricity and you can charge your batteries.

Are there any mandatory extra fees during the trek?
No, There is no any hidden fees apart from your personal expenses.

If I need to purchase some gear or supplies where should I get it?
All kind of branded gears you can buy in Kathmandu.

How do I find you at the airport?
Our airport representative will be holding you name card at the arrivals gate, please look your name.

What kind of weather we expect during this trekking?
The weather is very unpredictable in the mountain, however below 1000m is quite warm and coldest season it falls about 8/20 degree.
Below 2000m-  Minimum 1 degree and maximum 15 degree.  (1/15)
Below 3000m-  Minimum -1 degree and maximum 13 degree.
Below 4000m- minimum -2 degree and maximum 12 degree
Below 5000m- minimum -4 degree and maximum 5 degree
Above 5000m is extremely cold.

How does getting food work at the tea houses?
All different verities (continental and Nepalese) of hygienic food is served during the trek.

What is the preferred type of luggage?
A backpack in its simplest form, a cloth sack carried on one's back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders.

Can I get my clothes washed?
No there is no laundry services are available in the mountain.

Do I need to get Diamox (altitude sickness medicine) before I arrive?
Yes you better to bring some high altitude medicine with you.

Can I add extra days to my trekking?
Yes, your trekking is always flexible so you can add few days if needed.
