Mt. Everest (8848m) the highest mountain in the world straddles along the border between Nepal and China (Tibetan Autonomous Region). Which means you can approach Everest base camp from either Nepal side or Tibet side.

Everest Base Camp on China side is called North Everest base camp which is located at an altitude of 5150m. Tibet Everest Base Camp tour offers you an epic journey into north Everest Base camp which offers breathtaking views of the north face of Mt. Everest, Rongbuk glacier and Rongbuk valley.

You will start the journey with an amazing trans Himalayan flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. On air, you will be able to enjoy the surreal views of tallest Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma. Once in Lhasa, the administrative capital of Tibet province of China, you can visit Potala Palace, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Sera and Drepung monasteries among others.

It also provides an opportunity to explore the culture and history of Tibet as we stop over in towns such as Gyangtse Newly settlement town, Shigatse-the biggest Monastery, and Tingri for Everest Base camp.

Day 01: Kathamndu to Lhasa (3650m)

Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa on a trans Himalayan flight enjoying superb views of Himalayan peaks including Everest, Cho Oyu, Shisha Pangma, Lhotse, Nuptse etc. The air time is 1.30 hrs followed by a 1hr drive to Lhasa city from the airport. Check in at hotel and relax.

This is a day allocated for full day sightseeing of Lhasa. You will begin with a tour of the impressive 1000-room Potala Palace perched on red hills. The palace was constructed by Tibetan king SongstenGampo in the seventh century and consists of ancient Buddhist scriptures, murals, monk chambers, statues of Buddha and so forth. From there you will go over to 15th century Drepung Monastery, the largest monaster of Gelug sect. The monastery has four colleges for Buddhist studies with a capacity to accommodate 10000 monks at one time. Likewise you will also see Sera Monastery located on the hill of roses. Do participate or just observe how monks debate with each other. Overnight in hotel.

This is the second day in Lhasa as the sightseeing continues. Today you will visit 7th centuryJokhang Temple and thesurrounding Barkhor Street, Norbulinka palace, and Ganden monastery. Overnight in hotel.

After morning breakfast we will leave Lhasa and drive towards Shigatse passing through Gyantse along the way. This section of the journey is one of the most amazing thing you will ever experience.

The first sighting you will have is of KumbumYamdrotso Lake (4441m) seen from the Kamba La at an altitude of 4700m. The lake is a blue turquoise in colour and lies just near the road. You will also be able to see Mt. NojinKangtsang(7191m) along with other snowy mountains. Also within the beautiful Karola Glacier.

As you leave Gyantse behind and advance near to Shigatse, you will come upon the ancient PelkorChöde Monastery and GyantseKumbumchorten perched on Dzong Hill. You will stop over to observe the many treasures that the two showcases including statues of Buddha and Thangka painting. The 108 chapels of GyantseKumbum spread in its impressive four floors will be an added attraction. Overnight in hotel.

 Today you will cover a total distance of 350m from Shigatse to Rongbuk Monastery, taking about 9-10 hrs. You will be carrying pack lunch to be eaten along the way. Much of the journey is through high mountain terrain with great views of Himalayan peaks.

Upon reaching Rongbukmonastery you will be greeted with splendid views of Mt Everest. Specially the falling sunset on Everest is something you wouldn’t want to miss. From here it is just a few kilometers to Everest Base Camp. We will pitch our tent near Rongbuk Monastery Overnight in tented camp.

Early morning without eating any breakfast, we drive towards north Everest Base Camp.It takes about 1 hr to reach a point called Everest Tent Camp which is the last point you can approach. From here you can capture dominating view of north face of Qomolangma. You are surrounded by Rongbuk glaciers and mountains all around. After exploring and spending one of the most exhilarating moment of your life, you will drive back same route to Shigatse. Overnight in hotel.

You will start driving back to Lhasa in the morning. Along the way you will have plenty of time to visitTashilumpa Monastery which belongs to Gelgugpa sect. The monastery houses Kelsang Temple andMaitreyaChapel among others. Overnight in hotel.

Morning transfer to Gongar Airport to catch a flight back to Kathmandu.

If Global Adventure Trekking Company cancels your trip to Tibet due to unforeseen circumstances like war, natural disasters, conflict, unfavorable climate, etc. we would be happy to refer you alternative trip of a similar standard. Even if this doesn't fit your personal interest, all monies paid by you to our company will be refunded. But remember, any other expenses incurred by you as a result of this booking are entirely your responsibility.

Papers & Documents

All necessary documents should be presented in sequence for example to issue visa, necessary permits, etc. We're not accountable in case of any trip formality not completed in time before the trip departs on the absent of essential papers and documents. You should have a 6-month valid passport at the time of traveling to Tibet.
