How to go to Lhasa (Tibet)?

As per the latest development of the road, driving goes through the Langtang National Park (north of Kathmandu) to the Gyirong (Kerung) border and spending a night here. Afterward, keep following the itinerary which is mentioned below. There are a few options to enter Lhasa either via road or direct flight to Gonggor Airport from Kathmandu International Airport.

The trip starts from Kathmandu by road to Lhasa via Gyirong, Tingri, Shigatse, Gyantse, and Lhasa. It will take 5 days to reach the capital city of Tibet-Lhasa. Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa and drive back to Kathmandu. The most scenic trans-Himalayan flight allows you to witness the world’s highest peaks including Everest 8848m, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu, Xishapangma while you are flying. Once in Lhasa, which is Tibet's cultural and political center, you will go on a guided tour of Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, etc.

What you can visit while on this tour?

On the journey through Tibet, you will visit Kichu valley, Tsedang city in Yarlung valley, Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse, and Tashi Lumgpo monastery in Shigatse. Among them, Samye Monastery holds more significance because it is the oldest Buddhist monastery in Tibet.

The last leg of the travel brings you to Rongbuk (4980m) for a breathtaking view of the north face of Mt. Everest along with Rongbuk Glacier and Rongbuk monastery. The 7N/8D tour will confidently give the best test of Tibet.

Early in the morning scenic drive to Kerung Border (Nepal-Tibet Border) through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepalese immigration, an hour adventurous uphill drive by Bus & Van (normally) or 2-hour walk uphill (in case of landslide to Chinese immigration, check-in to hotel or Continue drive to Kerung.

Day drive to the highest plateau of the world with typical landscape offering the sheer feeling of being on the roof of the world crossing over the 5,050 meters LALUNGA pass, from where you can view the breathtaking mountain range from Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m.26900 ft.) Mt. Xishapagma ( 8,012 m./26,268 ft.) dwarfed by the vastness of Tibetan plateau (if weather permits). One can also take a magnificent view of Mt. Everest (8,848 m) from Tingri/ SHEGAR.

Useful Info

Permit Processing:

You need to submit once scanned passport copy of all the members wanting to join this tour 15 days prior to the tour date. The permit for Tibet takes minimum 15 days to process. We apply the permit on your behalf to Tibet.

Visa Processing: 

We expect all our guest to be available in Kathmandu Nepal 4 working days prior to the tour date for the visa processing as it take minimum 4 working days here in Kathmandu for the visa to process. After visiting our office you will have to fill up the visa form along with one white background MRP photo  size  of (35mm x 45mm) no accessories no glasses no makeup. Your passport must have the validity of minimum 6 months along with at least with 2 blank pages. After all the paperwork is done full payment should be done of the tour along with visa fee after which we will apply the visa on your behalf.
