Chispani-Nagarkot Trek is perhaps the nearest and shortest trek around Kathmandu Valley. Those who do not have enough time but still would like to experience Himalayan trekking, Chisapani Nagarkot is an ideal trek for you.
Named after a Tamang village called Chisapanai, Chisapani trek starts from Sundarijal, an hour ride from the core Kathmandu city. The trail passes through Shivapuri National Park, Nepal’s newest national park, which is home to many wild animals such as leopard, bear and boar. You will begin your trek through a serene and quiet forest and go past ancient Tamang villages such as Mulkhharka, Chispani etc.
Chisapani located at an altitude of 2215m is the highest point you will reach on this trek. Chispani is a vantage point for splendid views of Manaslu, Langtang and Ganesh Himalayan ranges. The trek ends in Nagarkot (2175m) which is the best hill ride for watching sunrise and sunset and the Himalayan peaks such as Annapurna, Langtang, Ganesh to Everest and Kanchenjunga in the east.
The trail has been promoting ecotourism with focus on waste management, water conservation, use of organic vegetables and local entrepreneurship.
