The Gokyo Lakes over Renjo la Pass are spectacularly beautiful. The panoramic view over the turquoise lakes with 8,000m-plus peaks in the background is a pretty unforgettable experience!

Gokyo Lake and Renjo-la Pass Trekking is a most captivating world-famous trek in the Khumbu region allowing you to fully explore the cultural heritage of legendary Sherpa people and the natural wonders and challenges of the Everest region trek.

The trail goes through the Dudh Koshi River and passes several picturesque Sherpa villages including Namche Bazaar and Thame. Thame is where the Sherpa people originated from and is home to Thame Monastery. The crossing of Renjo La Pass (5,388m), one of the three highest Himalayan passes in the Everest region, is a daring adventure feat in itself. But you will be rewarded with a visit to the gorgeous Gokyo Lakes, a beautiful view of the longest Ngozumpa Glacier, and a dramatic mountain landscape unlike anywhere on Earth. The view of the Mountain and terrain from Renjola and Gokyo Ri are the most spectacular than anywhere else.

While at Gokyo Lake one can climb the Gokyo Ri (5315m) to get up-close ad majestic views of Everest (8848m), Makalu (8468m), Lhotse (8416m), Cho Oyu (8201m). After visiting the Gokyo Ri, walk to the fifth lake and Cho Oyu Base Camp for a full-day excursion. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang is one of the most dramatic eyesight in the Khumbu region. If you are interested and have a few more days to conquer Everest base camp then follow the Chola pass route and trek to Lobuche and Gorekshep to accomplish your dream trip to Everest Base Camp.

Follow the classical Everest base camp trails to Namche and visit Thame village taking a challenging but scenic Renjola pass to Gokyo Lake. After the exploration of the surroundings, trek down to Dole and Khumjung village. This 13 days trek to Sagarmatha is the most pleasant walk. The returning route is different and offers the beautiful Himalayan range with the sight of Musk deer. Trek to Namche and Lukla for your onward flight to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu

upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, Our airport representative will meet you and coordinate transfer to Hotel. Rest of the time is free

Fly to Lukla and begins the trek through the Tamang and Sherpa village. Lukla is mostly inhabited by Sherpa tribes. The trail goes gradually flat to Phakding. 

Note: In high season (October/November and April/May) all the STOL flights may conduct from Ramechap-Lukla-Ramechap to avoid air traffic and delays. Kathmandu to Ramechap is 130km/4hrs. The flight to Lukla from Ramechap is just 15 minutes.

You are approaching the Himalayas closely. Viewing all-mountain and pine forests and following the yak takes you to Namche Bazar. On the way, you will have your first encounter of Mt. Everest, Amadablem, Thamserku, and many more

Thame is the north direction of Namche. Thame is the world-famous legendary Sherpa village. The village has an ancient Monastery and offers Pooja daily for good health and success of mountaineering and high pass trekking

We still have to follow the Trans Himalayan trade route to Tibet. The valley is most windy and tea houses are not well built for the trekkers. We stay in the small tea house for our cold night and nest day long way uphill to Renjo-la.

 Walking all the way uphill to Renjo-la top, an amazing view of Ngozumpa-largest glacier in Nepal Himalaya, and a view from the ridge above Gokyo Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Lhotse are visible at once. Probably the best panorama you can see from the Renjo-la top. Trek to Gokyo lake and overnight.

 Walk to Gokyo Ri (5316m)-Ngozumpa-largest glacier in Nepal Himalaya and view from the ridge above Gokyo Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Lhotse are visible at once. Even though heading down hill, lot of ups and downhill make tired very quickly than you thought. Phortse to Maha Danda will be the tough uphill for everybody. Visit Khumjung village, Hospital, Hillary School, Old Monastery where you can see the skull of Yeti. Trek 1.5 hrs to Lamche for overnight at Guest House.

The path is gradually down which will take about 2hrs to Namche. Along the way, you will see many mountain goats, birds, different kinds of flowers Mani wall, and a prayer flag. We are trekking down to Lukla to catch your next-day flight back to Kathmandu. Most flights leave in the morning for good visibility. Overnight at Guest house.

Gokyo Lake and Renjola Pass Trek

This trip starts in Kathmandu on Day 1 at 5-8 pm. This allows time for group information.

Due to the demands of traveling at high altitudes, a Passenger Self Assessment Form is required for this trip. You will be trekking on hilly terrain, generally on well-defined paths, walking between 3-7 hours per day, on average about 5 hours a day. Altitude may exceed 5545 meters.

A Single Supplement to have your own room is available on this trip and is applicable only to nights spent in Kathmandu.

In case of weather conditions leading to cancellations or delays in flights, this trip will operate on an alternate itinerary. Please see Day 1 of the itinerary for more details.

You must bring an emergency fund of 500 USD in cash with you on this trip, which you may need to use in case of delayed or canceled flights.

We advise allowing a few extra days in Kathmandu at the end of your trip should your return flights from Lukla be delayed due to weather conditions.

The minimum age for this trip is 12 yrs at the time of travel.

Please note that while we try to assist all our clients in achieving their goals, there may be times your leader makes the decision to either delay or stop your ascent based on your medical conditions and AMS symptom.

Passport and Visa:

All the traveler should have a 6-month validity passport. Visa can obtain on your upon arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Visa cost 30 USD, 50 USD, 125 USD for 15, 30 and 90 days respectively.

Medical and health information:

All travelers need to be good physical health in order to participate in this trip. Before buying this trip please read the details itinerary carefully.

You should consult your doctor for up to date for your Medical travel information or any necessary vaccination before departure. We suggest you to bring your personal medical kid.

Accommodation while on the Gokyo Lake and Renjola Pass trekking:

Accommodation at the local lodge known as Guesthouse is simple but comfortable. Toilet and washing facility are shared. In the guesthouse, travelers are provided twin sharing room with twin beds, mattress, and pillow. In high season (March to May) and September to November) in places there are few numbers of guesthouse so sometime travelers may do dormitories. In some places, guest house depends on solar power. Remote regions, the guest house does not have a toilet and running water can mean just a hole in the ground. Hot shower facility is available in some guesthouse for a price but occasionally hot shower means a bucket of hot water which is enough to wash your body. Electricity and Wi-Fi are available in some place for an additional cost.
 

Transport:

By Land: Kathmandu International Airport is the only International airport in Nepal. Since April 2019 remain closed due to repairs runway. So we provide the transport to Ramechhap (Manthali) airport for your Lukla flight.

By Air: Ramechhap to Lukla flights are unusually delayed due to the poor weather condition. All travelers are suggested to have a few backup days in the end to catch your International flight. If the flights keep canceling then you have the option to take a charter Heli flight and that will cost about 500 USD per person in sharing basis. This also depends on the number of people. So make sure you have prepared your emergency fund just for in case. All the domestic flight has a strict weight limit. 10Kg of your baggage and 5Kg hand luggage are included in your tickets. Excess baggage will be charged at your own expenses.

Phone and Internet services:

Most of the hotel in Kathmandu offer free Wi-Fi with excellent connection. While trekking Wi-Fi may be available in the teahouse for a small cost. The higher you go the more use of Wi-Fi and the internet will cost and likely the shower the speed. Remember your room may not have the electrical outlet. You have to share in the dining hall for your recharge.

Safety: Nepal is safe to travel destination in the world. Just to be sure travelers are suggested to have their neck belt money wallet while traveling, for the safe keeping of your money, passport, and some valuable items. During your trip, you will have some free time to pursue your own interests, relax and take it easy or explore at your leisure.

Altitude sickness: Altitude sickness is a hazard, including on the Annapurna, Langtang and Everest Base Camp treks and more. Please make sure you familiarize yourself with signs and symptoms before you leave and observe your own health during your trek.

Altitude sickness is a life-threatening fetal disease. Higher than 2,500m are at a risk of altitude sickness even though who are physically fit. It is important to be aware of these symptoms you may encounter.
Periods of sleeplessness, Occasional loss of appetite, Vivid, wild dreams at around 2,500-3,800m in altitude, Unexpected momentary shortness of breath day and night, Periodic breathing that wakes you occasionally, Blocked nose, Dry cough, Mild headache, and Vomiting …

If you are feeling nauseous, dizzy or experience other symptoms please share with your group and guide for the necessary evacuation.

Travel Insurance: Travel Insurance is compulsory for our Gokyo Lake and Renjola PassTrek. Make confident your insurance covers you for your planned activities, including travel and trekking above 3000m if this is included on your itinerary, mountain rescue services, and helicopter evacuation costs.
