Balthali village is at a distance of 40km from the city of Kathmandu. Nested in the lap of green hills on the confluence of Roshi and Ladku Khola, Balthali village is one of the best retreats from the bustling city. It is located at an altitude of 1700m hence offers beautiful panorama of Himalayan peaks such as Langtang, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Dorje Lakparanges.
Balthali village is inhabited by Newari community whose unique culture and lifestyle will mesmerize you. The village is surrounded by dense and lush forests of rhododendron, sal, magnolia and pine among others which are a habitat of many wild animals including colorful birds. The place is almost a parades of birders and nature lovers.
Balthali village tour begins with a short drive from Kathmandu- Sankhu followed by 3 hrs hike to the top of Nagarkot. Nagarkot is the best spot to view sunrise/sunset and entire Himalayan range from east to west. The following you will drop down to the ancient Buddhist site of Namo Buddha, one of the four Buddhas said to have achieved enlightenment. Early morning next day, trek to Balthali to spend a day or two in its serenity and natural bliss. You will return to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur.
