Everest High Pass Trekking Itinerary
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding 4hrs/2,620 m.
Morning flight to Lukla (135 km) and start the trek through Sherpa village. The trail goes gradually flat and easy to Phakding.
Note: In high season (October/November and April/May) all the STOL flights may conduct from Ramechap-Lukla-Ramechap to avoid air traffic and delays. Kathmandu to Ramechap is 130km/5hrs. The flight to Lukla from Ramechap is just 15 minutes.
Day 02: Phakding trek to Namche Bazaar 5 hrs. /(3,440 m).
the path is beautiful with its local settlement, diverse landscapes, and Hillary Bridge. On the way, you will have your first encounter with Mount Everest, Amadablam, Themserku, and many more.
Day 03: Rest day in Namche for acclimatization
Optional hike to Khumjung Monastery/Everest View Hotel and back to Namche
Day 04: Namche Bazar Trek to Thame
A trekking to Thame is not physically hard. Thame and Marlung are the most beautiful and old Village en route to Renjo-la pass.
Day 05: Trek from Thame to Lungden(4500m), Duration: 4-5 hours.
After having breakfast you will walk through Hurbs and Pine Forest until Lungden. You will meet some yak and sheep along the way. Arrival and check in Guest House.
Day 06: Trek from Lungden to Gokyo Lake (4700m) Over Renjola Pass (5,435m). Duration: 7 hours
The trail to Renjo-La is beautiful but a little bit hard. This trek features the rocky trail along with pine, Jupiter, fir, and many more. From the top, you will be welcomed by Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and amazing landscapes. Descending to Gokyo will take about 3 hours through an icy and rocky path.
Day 07: Acclimatization/Exploration Day at Gokyo. Walk to 5th Lake or Cho Oyu Base Camp and back. Duration: 5/6 hours hours.
Today is a rest day after completing the Renjo La pass. Visit Cho Oyu base camp (4,900 m), 5th Lake, Visit Ngozumpa glacier and read books.
Day 08: Trek from Gokyo Lake to Thaknak (4750m). Duration: 5 hours. (morning visit Gokyo Ri)
Morning visit Gokyo Ri for the sunrise and get back to the lodge then trek to Thaknak. The path is easy to Thaknak apart from crossing the glacier. arrive and check in at the Guest House.
Day 09: Trek from Thaknak to Dzongla (4830m) over a Cho-La (5420 m) Pass. Duration: 7 Hours
Another challenging day of the trek! Starting early is recommended because of the icey and fragile rocky path. From Thaknak (4,750 m) walk to the top of Chola (5420 m) and descend to Dzongla (4,830 m.) Enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the Mountain and Lobuche Peak.
Day 10: Trek from Dzongla to Lobuche (4,900m). Duration-5 hours
The Dzongla to Lobuche trek is easy and short it takes about 3 hours/ 7 km to Lobuche. Save your energy for the next day at the Everest Base camp.
Day 11: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,170m). Duration: 4 hours (Evening walk to Kala Patthar-the best scenic view, 2 hours)
Walk through the glacier moraine, rocky and dry wind to Gorak Shep. It takes only 3 hours to Gorak Shep and check in to the Guest House. Full day read book, enjoy with beautiful scenery and evening walk to Kala Patthar for Sunset view and back.
Day 12: Trek from Gorakshep to EBC (3+3km/, 5,365m) and Back. After having Lunch trek down to Loboche for the night. 5/6 hours.
Congrats on being at Kala Patthar 5545m! After having breakfast walk to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). It is 6km one way to go and back. After exploration return back to Gorak Shep and Trek down to Lobuche for night.
Day 13: Trek from Lobuche to Kongma-la (5,535m) and down to Chhukung (4730m), Duration 7-9 hours.
This is the longest and most difficult pass among the three passes. The path is completely into the wilderness, with no huts, and no lodges on the way to the top. It is a 10 km distance but icey, rocky, windy, fragile rocks, make your day longer than you expected. Prepare a dry food and water for yourself.
Day 14: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche (3860m), duration: 5 hours
Another celebration At Chhukung!! follow the Everest classical trek route to Tengboche. On the way back if time allows visit Ama Dablam Base Camp and Pangboche Monastery.
Day 15: Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) Duration: 5 hours.
Descend about 1000 m. to Phunki Tenga and climb all the way up to Sanasa. Then gradually up and down to Namche Bazaar.
Day 16: Trek from Namche to Lukla (2,860m) Duration: 6-7 hours.
Follow the same trail that you were taking on the way to Namche Bazaar. Arrival and check in to Hotel.
