Ganesh Himal Singla Pass Trek Itinerary
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Valche 1,810 m./5,910 ft./6 hrs.
Taking a local bus early in the morning or a private four-wheel drive journey from Kathmandu, reach Bhalche Gaun after driving approximately 6/7 hrs. This is also the gateway to the Langtang Valley at the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. Mesmerizing scenic driving and passing through Trisuli Bazaar and Betrawati. You will even able to start your trek on the same day but due to bit rough and tough driving spending a night in Bhalche will give you excellent acclimatization day.
Day 02: Bhalche to Gonaga village 3,100 m./10,170 ft./5hrs.
After breakfast trek bit uphill and have breath taking views on the back of Bhalche village. Trek continue passing thorough high tropical jungle and mesmerizing jungle views as well as beautiful landscape. The Rhododendron forest, Bamboo forest and different types of Orchid with chirping birds make you journey more pleasant and fun. Over night at Camp/Local Hut
Day 03: Gonaga trek to Rupchet 3,850 m./12,630 ft./ 6hrs
You day begins after the breakfast at Ganaga. Gonaga is a small village with beautiful surrounding. Leave Gonaga behind and trek to Rupchet. Always walking ups and down through the forest. Overnight at basic tea shop.
Day 04: Rupchet via Singla Pass 4,050 m./13,285 ft. to Shertung (1,875 m.6,150 ft.) 6-7 hrs.
After breakfast trek all the way hill top near Singla Pass (4050m) having the best view 270 degrees panoramic mountain views of Langtang ranges, Holy Ganesh himal ranges, Mt. Manaslu ranges and some part of Annapurna ranges. Enjoy the best views and then trek all the down to Shertung gaon passing through high tropical jungle, rhododendron forest, pine forest, oak, fire, Himalayan bamboo and surprising wildlife experience with many Kharkas (cow, sheep and goat huts). Iljyang water fall and its surrounding landscape is an extra ordinary views along the way.
Shertung is inhabited mainly by Tamang. The name Shertung means 'place of gold'. According to a legend , two brothers in search of gold were led here by a dream and thus the settlement was born. Tamang people have own rich culture to show for the visitors jhankri or shaman dance, ghode or horse dance, said to have been brought from Tibetan culture long ago. Jankri (shaman) activity is robust in this territory with the worship of natural forces and indigenous local deities interwoven with Hindu and Buddhist practices.
Day 05: Sertung trek to hot springs and Borang Gaon (1,660 m./4,445 ft.), 5 hrs.
Take breakfast and then just after walking 30 minutes downhill you arrive in Chalish the most stunning hospitality village of the area where majority of Gurung people and small portion of Dalit people live together. Trek continue to Tatopani (host spring) where you enjoy half of day taking bath and have lunch. This is probably the best hot springs in the area but tourist infrastructure has not developed yet (lodge, meals etc.…) however pack lunch from Shertung village or from Chalish village will be much better. Just form side of the village you will see the breath taking Ganesh Himal view just like your face and mirror (so close view). Evening enjoying cultural program.
Day 06: Borang-Darkha Village 8,50m./2,790 ft./ 6 hrs.
Darkha is the biggest village of Sing La pass trekking. Mostly it is inhabitating by Brahmin, Chetri, Magar, Tamang, Gurung , Newar and many more tribes live together hormonally. The path goes gradually downhill to the suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge you will reach Jharlang village then keep following the flat land to Darkha village where you will enjoy the big village walking. Along the way visit the Hydro power station. Overnight at home stay
Day 07: Darkha to Kathmandu by bus. 7 hrs
After having early breakfast we will take a bus to Kathmandu. The first part of the road is dot but as soon as you reach Dhading Bensi then, the road is smooth and well paved.
Day 08: Farewell and departure
After having breakfast in the hotel, GAT will arrange a transfer to Kathmandu Airport for your nest journey. Wishing you all the best for your next adventure.
