Jomsom-Muktinath Trekking Itinerary
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Kathmandu-Pokhara by bus 200 km./124 miles/8 hrs.
After having early breakfast, we start our journey by tourist bus to Pokhara with beautiful views of green hills and villages. Along the way, the bus stops for Lunch and rest time and continues to drive to Pokhara. Pokhara has many beautiful lakes, of which Phewa Lake is the most visited. Explore Pokhara city and Overnight in Hotel Pokhara. B/B plan
Day 02: Pokhara to Marpha by sharing jeep, 139 km./86 miles/2,620 m./8,593 ft.
After having breakfast at the Hotel, you will take a jeep drive to Marpha through Nayapul, Beni, Tatopani, and Marpha. It is a pleasant drive with Mountain views, villages along the route, rivers, and waterfalls that make the drive fun. Arrival and check-in to the Guest House.
Day 03: Marpha Trek to Kagbeni, 2,890 m/14 km./5 hrs
Today you will be walking through the Kaligandaki river bank which is famous for Saligram and Fossils. The path is almost flat and easy to walk. Passing Jomsom, Ekle Bhatti, and finally arriving at Kagbeni, Overnight at the Guest house.
Day 04: Kagbeni Trek to Muktinath 3,800 m/10 km./5 hrs
Kagbeni is very popular for the sunset at Nilgiri Mountain. Explore the Kagbeni in the morning and ascent to Jharkot for lunch and keep continuously to Muktinath. Overnight at Guest house.
Day 05: Muktinath Trek to Lubra village 2,970 m./18 km./5 hrs
After the exploration of Muktinath, you will begin your trek toward Lubra village. Lubra is a small village of about 15 houses that practice the Bon religion. This trail is much quieter and fewer trekkers. Along the way, you will gain an elevation of 380 m and a loss of 1300 m. elevation. Arrival and check at the local guest house.
Day 06: Lubra village trek to Jomsom 2,740 m. 10 km./5 hrs
Lubra is a nice and beautiful village in the corner of the Annapurna region. Visit Monastery, and Cave and descend to Ekle Bhatti, and continue to Jomsom. Jomsom is the district headquarters of Mustang.
Day 07: Jomsom fly to Pokhara Aerial distance 68 km. 20 min.
Jomsom to Pokhara is always in the morning time. After 10 am there will be a strong wind. The flight is amazing and goes between Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri I. It is a 25-minute flight. The rest of the time one may do a Fewa Lake cruise.
Day 08: Pokhara to Kathmandu by Bus 200 km./124 miles/8 hrs
All the tourist bus leaves at 7 am. This is a scenic drive through the Prithivi Highway. Optional you may take a flight to Kathmandu which costs 106 USD.
