Humla Limi Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu (1,350 m)

Upon scheduled arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by Global Adventure Trekking Company (GAT) personnel and transferred to the hotel. Checking in and if time consent visit GAT’s office for pre-trip briefing and meet the Guide. Then free to wander around Thamel.

Day 02Kathmandu Fly to Nepalgunj (150 m)

We take an hour-long flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj which is an interesting western Terai town of Nepal nearby India border. We visit the local market, explore the diverse culture of locality, mini-zoo and nearby villages.

Day 03Nepalgunj fly to Simikot (2,850 m) and trek to Dharapori (2,300 m)

Early morning flight to Simikot which takes about 45 minutes. Soon after land at Simikot airport, we begin our trek going uphill through wheat and barley field. The trail affords the great views of Humla Karnali valley. Then we go steeply down to Masigaon and follow Yakba Khola to Dharapori.

Day 04Dharapori Trek to Sally Khola (2,700 m)

Walk over a ridge onto the big valley of potatoes, buckwheat and barley field. The path is level and walnut tree and apricot trees make the scenery more beautiful. Pass the Police check post and highest last rice cultivation to the shore of Sally Khola.

Day 05Sally Khola Trek to Muchu (2,850 m)

After we left the Sally Khola, the path goes gradually up and then downhill through the forest. Walk through big valley of potatoes and buckwheat field and climb down to Chumsa Khola. Cross the river and walk rocky part of the hill to Muchu.

Day 06Muchu Trek to Yari (3,700 m)

Today, we mostly descend to Humla Karnali River. Muchu is a busy village with local police post and a governmental hospital. Our trek goes past mani walls and prayers flags to reach Yari.

Day 07Yari Trek to Hilsa (3,750 m)

The path ahead goes through pine bush and shortly after over Nara La pass (4,600 m). From here it is a downhill walk to Hilsa.

Day 08Hilsa Trek to Manepeme (4,000 m)

We are trekking through the narrow windy path on grassland. Mostly our staffs will try to follow the local traders. This valley is famous for snow leopard and blue ship.

Day 09Manepene Trek to Til (4,000 m)

The convoluted path ahead weaves its way through ravines and up and down trails. The path is challenging as we are walking through the trans-Himalayan valley.

Day 10Til Trek to Halji (3,650 m)

This is downhill walking Today. We enjoy easy and fairy walk till Halji.

Day 11Halji Trek to Jang (4,070 m)

We are going to climb uphill again today. En route, we will come across Rinzin Ling Gompa which features a large Chorten and prayer flags and reach Jang.

Day 12Rest day for acclimatization and explore Jang

Jang is the last village of Limi valley. We spend here full day exploring nearby surrounding and valley.

Day 13Jang Trek to Yak Kharka (3,900 m)

The path wobbles up and down on a yak and sheep trail. Enjoy the unique real sense of adventure with off the beaten track till Yak Kharka.

Day 14Yak Kharka Hike to View point (4,900 m)

It takes around 3 hours uphill walk from Yak Kharka to arrive at the viewpoint at an altitude of 4,900 m. A splendid panorama of Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarover in Tibet is visible from here. Return to camp for overnight rest.

Day 15Yak Kharka Trek to Talung Base Camp (4,400 m)

The path goes gradually downhill to a natural hot spring. Then the path is barren all the way up to the Base camp.

  • Altitude: 4370m
Day 16Talung base camp Trek to Talung (4,350)

Walk 3 hours slowly to the top of the Talung and descend another 3 hrs to Talung village. You can see all western range of Himalaya from the village.

Day 17Talung Trek to Shingungma (3,600 m)

first, we cross the Nyalu La (4950 m) then taking the lower path to Yangar village and Shingungma. On the way, we can make a sight trip to Namka Khyung Dzong Gompa.

Day 18Shingungma Trek to Dhinga Laga (2,700 m)

Today we are going uphill to go over a small pass at 3,100 m altitude. Pass small village and forest to the Dhinga Laga.

Day 19Dinga Laga Trek back to Simikot

The trail to Simikot goes by way of a small village and yak pasture land.

Day 20Simikot Fly to Nepalgunj and fly to Kathmandu

Take an early morning flight to Nepalgunj and then a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Once in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Day 21Buffer day in Kathmandu

This is a free and Leasure day in Kathmandu. You are free to walk around Thamel or we can arrange the Kathmandu city tour includes UNESCO world heritage sights - Monkey Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupati Nath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa.
