Yala peak (5700m) is perhaps the most popular trekking peak located in Lagtang region in the centrally Himalayas. The peak is easily accessible and within a very short distance from Langtang village.
Climbing Yala peak is easy and very straight forward without the need for technical skills on the party of mountaineers. However they need to be physically and mentally fit. So both climbers and experienced mountaineers can climb the peak. Yala peak is perhaps the only spot in Nepal to see the unobstructed and wholesome view Mt. Shishapangma (8013m), the 14th highest mountain in the world located in China (Tibet) along with Langtang Lirung (7246m), Lenpo Gang (7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m) and Gangchempo (6388m).
Part of the climbing experience includes trekking to the beautiful valleys of Langtang, observing richt Tamang-Tibetan culture and visiting Kyanjin Gompa. Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has the authority to provide climbing permits for Yala peak.
